My mother enrolled me in a variety of interest classes when I was young. Whether it was ballet, piano, or chorus, none of them lasted. Because I'm an introvert, these show-type hobbies blew me away. Usually, I like to find a quiet corner to read a book. Painting, on the other hand, is unique. I can still be immersed in my own world while slowly sketching out another.
Then I found my emphasis, abstraction. For me abstraction is more real than realism. Just imagine when you recall an outdoor scene. Do you think of the grass with distinct roots on the ground, or the breeze that brushed your face that afternoon. What I want to express is that I think abstraction can give people more room for imagination.
